Grandmaster Gerald Timm began his martial arts training in 1972 under Sense Walter Clarence Dodd in Mushin Ryu Ju-Jitsu and attained his 1st Dan (black belt) in 1975. During that time, Grandmaster began training under Sifu Paul Jones in Roman Grecko Pankration and dirty boxing as well as Bartitsu with the short sword and buckler, which is a dinner plate sized shield.

Grandmaster also trained Koshi Shori Ryu Kempo Ju-Jitsu under Master Steven W. Barham. Years later he was awarded his Brown Belt from Master Barham.
In 1977 Grandmaster began training Shito-Ryu Karate at American States Karate under Sensi Greg Highthouse and Sempi Jim Cadenhead who was brown under Sensi Highthouse .

Grandmaster Timm is Lakan Lima (5th Dan) in Kombaton Presas, Lakan Lima (5th Dan) in Arnis de Mano, Lakan Lima (5th Dan) in Mano-Mano, and Lakan Lima (5th Dan) in Sipan, and Lakan Lima (5th Dan) in Arjuken.
He attained the status of "She-Han" and the ranking of 7th Degree Black Belt under Walter Clarence Dodd in Mushin Ryu Ju-Jitsu and also again he attained "She-Han" status and 7th Degree Black Belt rank in Samouri Combat Ju-Jitsu under Master Wally Jay.

Grandmaster Timm has acquired certification in Laos Kickboxing under Master John Samsack, certification in Thai Boxing under Ajarn Surachai "Chai" Sirisute. He has also acquired his 6th Degree Black Belt in Krabi-Krabong.​

He has attained "Expert" status in Greek Pankration, "Expert" status in Philippine Panantukan and Ponajok, a Black Belt in American Kenpo Karate, 2nd Dan in Tiger Crane Kempo Kung Fu, and 1st Dan in Dragon Kenpo Karate.
Grandmaster Timm also has attained an 9th Degree Black Belt in Street Kendo, a 6th Degree Black Belt in Tres Punta Escrima, 5th Degree Black Belt status in Gojo-Ryu Ju Jitsu, 5th Dan in Jo Staff, 5th Dan in Bo Jitsu, Brown Belt in Sogo Ryu Ju-Jitsu, and "Pendikar" in Pencak Silat.

He also holds a 1st Dan Red Sash in Hising I Chuan, Pa Kua Chang, and Tai Chi Chuan, and a Brown Belt in Sogo Ryu Ju-Jitsu.
